Bifunkal & Friends
Bifunkal & Friends
Bifunkal is a two-piece band based in Chicago that believes in live looping, vocal bass, and the power of rock. Bifunkal is Hershyl Edwards (drums, vocal bass, loops, vox) and Jesse Crydeman (guitar, loops, vox). Hershyl is a unique bird, in that he sings the bass lines (into an octave pedal) while playing drums. Sometimes he even loops the vocal bass, and then sings–all while playing drums.

Bifunkal has been performing for the past 7 years, and has released several recordings, including two full length albums. The most recent, Animals, was recorded in Austin, Texas and mixed in Chicago, Illinois. The album features My Boy Elroy (Liquid Soul, Digital Tape Machine) on vocalisms and a dance remix.

Hershyl Edwards: Drums, Vocal Bass, Loops, and Vox.
Jesse Cryderman: Guitars, Loops, Keys, Trumpet, Vox
Bronson Rock
Bronson Rock
Bronson Rock plays originals and cool covers from long ago. Fronted by Buzz Gordo, (Big Bad Johns, Gone Native), the band plays a bunch of Gordo originals as well as a host of cool, danceable covers of obscure soul, rockabilly and garage rock classics.
Originally formed in Chicago, the members of AfroZep now live spread throughout the country. The core members, who also perform as psychedelic rock trio KAVA, collide with the countries top Rock, Jazz and African musicians to perform a set of Led Zeppelin songs. Some tunes are straight mash-ups of Fela Kuti and Zeppelin, others are Zep tunes but set to original grooves based off the music of artists such as Tinariwen, Thomas Mapfumo and Franco and others are stripped down Zeppelin arrangements injected with the pulse of traditional African drumming.
